This is the 2013 Mazda MX-5. You probably know it by it’s maiden name, the Miata. This is one of the best cars, ever. Seriously. Mazda just keeps getting it better and better, and the old ones are still amazing as well. These cars are so much fun to drive, nimble and torquey, all hands-on driving. This is a six speed, and while it was too small for Christopher (nearing 6’4″), if you drive one, you’ll see why owners are such a rabid crew. They really are; I speak at a Miata club most years, and the owners are so involved, so, I dunno, clubby, about their cars. I love it.
There is also no secret of my love for the Porsche Boxster, so maybe it’s just a fast little car thing. The last time I drove the Mazda MX-5 was a few years ago, a bright yellow one. This is a hardtop convertible, which I prefer over the soft top, but all around, great car if you’re in the market.

Had this vehicle late October. Fun to drive – until you start driving distances involving 3+ hours in the driver’s seat.
Planning a romantic weekend getaway? Not in this baby. No room for more than a couple of ‘shopping bags’ in the trunk. I travelled with my normal in-flight carry-on travel bag – on the seat beside me since it could not get into said trunk.
Any partner for said romantic weekend would end up being my personal wishful thinking and a vivid imagination as I flew solo.
Mazda? Never. Had a GLC. Was investigating fields where i could park it and fire bomb it out of my existence. Peterborough dealer said there were three lemons within his region. Mine was the worst. But it always stayed exactly one minuye under the lemon rule for a free replacement.
MX-5 Miata trunk: I own one and the trunk will easily hold 2 duffel bags with plenty of clothes for a weekend, plus a small cooler bag with some beer and ice. Now if you insist on using a fixed-frame wheelie bag that won’t fit …
